Jeep sales are growing, and FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) has announced plans to invest $1.05 billion in the Jeep brand to revamp its North American manufacturing in Illinois and Ohio. Jeep Cherokee production will be moving from Toledo, Ohio to Belvidere, IL over the next year and a half. The Dodge Dart, Jeep Compass, and Jeep Patriot which are currently manufactured at the Belvidere, Illinois plant will cease production by the end of 2016. FCA is looking at options to outsource production of the Dart, while the Compass and Patriot will be replaced by a single model that will be shown at the LA Auto Show later this year.

The news comes immediately following FCA's announcement of plans to expand the Toledo plant, adding 700 jobs to the area for production of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler and the new Wrangler pickup truck.
